Gurugram: Shubhankar Sharma believes his eight-year title drought is not about eroded abilities and that one good tournament can lift his career again.

No Indian has won on the DP World Tour since Sharma's breakthrough double win in 2017-18.

Sharma, who retained his DP World Tour card, is confident that one week can change everything in golf.

He will tee off in the Hero Indian Open at the tough DLF Golf and Country Club course.

Sharma's childhood friend Yuvraj Sandhu, who earned the card as last season's money list topper of the Indian tour, is also participating in the tournament.

Sharma has had a decent run on tour but struggled with changes in clubs last year, which affected his momentum.

Despite this, Sharma remains excited to go and see what is possible and that's what keeps him going.

He still feels young and has plenty of juice left in him, drawing confidence from his previous experiences of wins.

Indian players who have got into DP World via the PGTI Order of Merit route have not managed to retain the card, but Sandhu is hopeful he can stop that sequence.

Adjusting to the longer courses on the European tour has been a big challenge for Sandhu, who won seven tournaments on the domestic tour last year.
