Javelin throwing is a family passion for Rohit Yadav, whose two brothers also throw the spear. His father, a former decathlete, has been their mentor and basic guru. The discussion about athletics at home motivates all three brothers, including Rohit, who has qualified for the Commonwealth Games along with Neeraj Chopra and Yashvir Singh.

Rohit's journey in the sport began at the age of 6, inspired by his father. He won his first gold medal at a district-level competition in 2014 and secured another gold at the World School Games in 2016. In 2019, he broke the U-18 national record with an 81.75m throw and was selected for the national camp.

However, an elbow injury forced him out of competition for over 12 months, causing him to miss the 2023 World Championships. Rohit's recovery was gradual, but he pushed himself back to form and achieved a new personal best at an inter-state meet in 2023. He also won gold at the Taiwan Athletics Open in 2025 and secured silver at the National Games.

With Neeraj Chopra's encouragement to 'focus on dreams not results,' Rohit delivered a career-best throw of 83.76m, becoming the first Indian men's javelin thrower to breach the Athletics Federation of India's (AFI) CWG qualifying mark of 82.61m. Rohit is now focused on qualifying for the Asian Games and making a podium finish at the CWG at Glasgow this July-August.
