Thousands of Pittsburgh Steelers and NFL fans breathed a sigh of relief on Friday after the team clarified that the report of legendary defensive lineman Joe Greene's passing was 'not accurate'.
Greene, widely regarded as one of the greatest defensive linemen in league history, was a cornerstone of the Steelers' dominant 'Steel Curtain' defense, winning four Super Bowl titles and earning 10 Pro Bowl selections.
Known for his ferocious playing style, Greene earned the nickname 'Mean Joe' early in his NFL career due to his aggressive demeanor and hard-hitting tackles.
With a 13-year career, Greene recorded 77.5 sacks, 16 fumble recoveries, and one interception, and remains the last surviving member of the famed Steel Curtain unit.
