Indian wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan, a key member of the World Cup T20 winning team, dismissed a question about 1983 WC winner Kirti Azad's objections to the trophy being taken to a Hindu temple in Ahmedabad.

Kirti Azad, a Trinamool Congress MP, raised questions over India's T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav, coach Gautam Gambhir, and ICC chairman Jay Shah taking the World Cup trophy to a Hanuman Mandir in Ahmedabad.

Azad said it was shameful that one religion got precedence and questioned why the trophy wasn't taken to a Mosque, Church, or Gurudwara.

The visit to the Hanuman Temple was seen as a move to communalise the state's politics ahead of the upcoming state elections.
