The Houston Texans have secured the future of quarterback C.J. Stroud by exercising his fifth-year option, ensuring he remains with the franchise through the 2027 NFL season.

Stroud will be paid approximately $25.9 million for the 2027 season, while teammate Will Anderson will receive $21.512 million. The move allows the Texans to maintain flexibility while keeping their starting quarterback under contract during the development phase.

General manager Nick Caserio had previously dismissed trade rumors, stating Stroud remains central to the team's plans. The decision underscores the Texans' commitment to building around their young talent while managing salary cap considerations.
