President Donald Trump honored Inter Miami's 2025 MLS Cup championship team at the White House, praising their 3-1 victory over Vancouver Whitecaps and 2-1 win over Porto in the Club World Cup.
Argentine superstar Lionel Messi and his teammates, including coach Javier Mascherano and team co-owner Jorge Mas, were feted by Trump, who reminisced about Brazilian icon Pele's 1970s stint with the New York Cosmos.
Trump also took a subtle dig at former president Joe Biden, referencing Messi's absence from the ceremony when Biden awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom in January 2025.
Inter Miami's rise to global success was attributed to their philosophy of hard work, sacrifice, and dreaming big, with Mas saying, 'We can play with the big boys.'
