A 14-year-old US teenager of Indian origin, Nirvika Koduru, has made history by winning the Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals at Augusta National Golf Club. Nirvika, who hails from Nellore in Andhra Pradesh and lives in Boca Raton, Florida, became the first US player of Indian origin to win a DCP title.
She aggregated 30 points, tying the all-time DCP record across age categories, and secured a 7.5-point winning margin, the largest among the eight categories in 2026.
Nirvika, who fell in love with golf at the age of five, said she felt consistent throughout the competition and tried not to focus on the pressure. She aims to become a professional golfer and is also considering a career as a doctor.
Nirvika's father, Raj, said he and his wife, Shravani, moved to the US in the 1990s for higher studies and built a garage and bought a simulator for their daughters to practice golf. They later moved from Northern Virginia to Boca Raton to provide Nirvika with 12 months of sunshine to practice.
