Agartala, August 15: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated a blood donation camp in Ramnagar, Agartala, today as part of celebrations marking India’s 80th Independence Day and the founding anniversary of Samhati Club.
The programme highlighted the importance of voluntary blood donation and encouraged citizens to come forward to support patients in critical need of blood. The initiative was organised with the broader objective of promoting humanitarian service and strengthening community participation.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Manik Saha expressed his appreciation for the initiative and said he was delighted to see the blood donation drive being accompanied by arrangements for posthumous body and eye donation pledges and organ donor registration.
He commended Samhati Club for its continued efforts towards serving humanity and extending assistance to critically ill patients. The Chief Minister emphasised the importance of such voluntary initiatives in creating greater awareness about blood donation, organ donation and other forms of social service.
The programme also provided an opportunity for people to register their willingness to contribute to society even after death through body, eye and organ donation.
Among those present at the event was Ramnagar MLA Deepak Majumder, along with members of Samhati Club, volunteers and local residents.
The blood donation camp added a strong humanitarian dimension to the Independence Day celebrations, reflecting the spirit of community service and solidarity. The organisers expressed hope that the initiative would inspire more people to participate in voluntary blood donation and donation pledges in the future.
