The scrutiny of nomination papers for the upcoming Tripura Village Committee elections has been completed, with the process continuing until late Monday night. Following the conclusion of the scrutiny, the State Election Commission released the final statistics concerning the nominations received across the state.
According to the figures announced by State Election Commissioner Dr. Pradip Kumar Chakraborty on Tuesday, a total of 10,961 nomination papers were filed for the village elections, involving 10,938 candidates.
Of the total nominations received, 10,889 were found valid after detailed scrutiny. Meanwhile, 72 nomination papers submitted by 49 candidates were rejected for failing to meet the required criteria.
The completion of the scrutiny process marks another important step toward the conduct of the village elections in Tripura. Candidates whose nominations have been accepted will now proceed with their election campaigns, while those whose papers were rejected may exercise any available legal or electoral remedies as per the applicable rules.
The State Election Commission is expected to proceed with the next stages of the electoral process according to the announced schedule. The village elections are being closely watched as political parties and independent candidates prepare to contest across various constituencies in the state.
