The remains of Stewart McLean, a 45-year-old Canadian actor known for his role in Netflix's Virgin River, were found in Lions Bay, British Columbia, on May 22. Police are investigating his death as a homicide.

Acting coach Jeff Seymour, who had known McLean for about eight years, described him as a 'straight arrow' and said he couldn't understand how anyone could have harmed him.

'He was meticulous about everything and there would be no chance he blew it off or slept too late,' Seymour said. 'As soon as I heard he didn't make it on Saturday morning, I knew there was big trouble.'

McLean was last seen at his home in Lions Bay on May 15, and a missing person report was filed with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in Squamish on May 18.

The case was handed over to Canada's Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) after investigators found evidence suggesting he may have been killed.

Search operations began on Wednesday throughout the Lions Bay area, and search teams located suspicious evidence, leading to the transfer of the investigation back to Squamish RCMP for further investigation.

IHIT confirmed McLean's remains were found during the search, and his death is believed to have been a homicide.
