The New York Knicks are on the cusp of reaching the NBA Finals, holding a commanding 2-0 series lead against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

However, Knicks fans have been dealt a setback as the NYPD cracks down on watch parties ahead of Game 3, citing chaotic scenes outside Madison Square Garden.

Permits for the Eastern Conference Finals Game 4 gathering were denied by the city's Street Activity Permit Office, with police officers unwilling to support watch parties unless fans show better crowd control and behavior.

The decision follows a series of problematic issues at previous watch parties, including six arrests during Game 2.

Despite the cancellation of Monday's outdoor event, Saturday's indoor Game 3 watch party will still take place, with proceeds from the gathering set to support charity.
