Actor Anu Aggarwal has spoken out against the objectification of women in films, recalling how she made a conscious choice to avoid such roles 30 years ago. She encouraged young actors to do the same, saying that stories will change when audiences demand better and when actors refuse to participate in what they no longer believe in.

Her comments come after the release of Peddi, a sports action drama that has been criticized for its portrayal of the female lead, played by Janhvi Kapoor. The film's director, Buchi Babu Sana, has apologized and announced plans to make changes to certain scenes.

Aggarwal shared a photo from a magazine cover, captioning it 'I am a total misfit in the industry.' She wrote that the choices that made her a misfit then are why she is comfortable in her own skin today.

She also shared a long note addressing the issue, saying that responsibility does not rest only with the audience or filmmakers, but also with actors. She encouraged young actors to hear the story before signing a film, ask questions, and refuse to participate in roles that compromise human dignity.

Peddi has been doing well at the box office, collecting over ₹190 crore worldwide despite the controversy.
