The highly anticipated Milan Cortina Winter Olympics opening ceremony is set to kick off on February 6, featuring a star-studded lineup that includes global music icon Andrea Bocelli. The Italian tenor, known for his crossover appeal, will join Mariah Carey, who was previously announced as a performer, in what promises to be the most-watched moment of the Games. The ceremony will take place at Milan's iconic San Siro soccer stadium, where a Parade of Athletes and entertainment will be showcased over the course of three hours. Reflecting the unique spread of the Milan Cortina Games, elements of the ceremony will also be held in three other locations, including Cortina in the Dolomite mountains, Livigno in the Italian Alps, and Predazzo in the autonomous province of Trento. These remote locations will allow athletes from various disciplines to participate, with moments beamed to the television audience. A touching tribute will be paid to the late Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani, who left an indelible mark on Milan. Armani's legacy as a pioneer of Italian fashion will be celebrated, and his influence on the Italian team's Olympic uniforms will be honored. Bocelli, a classically trained singer with a versatile discography, has performed for high-profile events, including the coronation of King Charles III and the 75th anniversary of the Italian Constitution. His upcoming performance at the Olympics will be a highlight of the ceremony, bringing a contemporary and global tone to the event. The opening ceremony, produced by veteran Olympic producer Marco Balich, will feature a mix of entertainment and Olympic values, culminating in a spectacle that will be watched by millions worldwide. Joining Bocelli and Carey on stage will be Italian actors Sabrina Impacciatore and Matilde De Angelis, as well as internationally acclaimed ballet star Roberto Bolle, who will headline the closing ceremony on February 22 in Verona's ancient Roman Arena.
