James Cameron's latest installment, Avatar: Fire and Ash, has made a decent start at the box office. According to Sacnilk.com, the film earned ₹24.18 crore on Sunday, bringing its total to ₹65.43 crore over the first three days. While this is a respectable figure, it's worth noting that the film is lagging behind the first two installments in the franchise. In comparison, Avatar: The Way of Water had already crossed the ₹100 crore mark by day three in 2022, with a total opening weekend haul of ₹126.20 crore in India. Meanwhile, Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar is continuing to dominate the box office, having crossed ₹545 crore on its 17th day and poised to become one of the top 10 highest-grossing films of all time in India. Released in six languages on December 19, Avatar: Fire and Ash boasts an ensemble cast, including Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, and Kate Winslet. The film's success is a significant challenge for Cameron, who plans to release five Avatar films in total. However, the Hollywood giant's latest effort has received mixed reviews, with some critics panning the film's lack of coherent storytelling. As reported by Variety, the fourth and fifth Avatar films are scheduled for release in 2029 and 2031, respectively. While Avatar: Fire and Ash may not be living up to expectations, it's still a visually stunning film that offers a great cinematic experience. However, the question remains - can Cameron redeem himself with the next two installments?
