The Backrooms, a summer blockbuster from 20-year-old filmmaker Kane Parsons, has finally made its way to India. Based on creepypasta, the film has earned over $150 million worldwide. The movie follows Clark, a down-and-out architect, who discovers a secret passageway to a hidden world in his office. As he delves deeper into the mysterious rooms, he realises he isn't alone, and something may be hunting him. The film features a talented cast, including Chiwetel Ejiofor and Renate Reinsve, who deliver pitch-perfect performances. However, the film's ambition and chaotic nature sometimes make it feel indulgent and confusing. Despite this, the film raises important questions about the nature of entertainment and whether a film always has to entertain or merely engage the audience.
