Bollywood director Shazia Iqbal has sparked a heated debate after sharing her scathing review of the Netflix film Dhurandhar, which stars Ranveer Singh. The director, who is also set to release her film Dhadak 2 in March, had initially criticized the movie on her Instagram stories without mentioning its title. She called it a 'sinister film' that 'incites hate and violence.' Screenshots of her comments soon went viral, with many users criticizing her stance and accusing her of hypocrisy. Some even questioned whether she had watched her own projects, including Sacred Games and Houseful 2, to which she was associated as a production designer. The backlash was swift, and Shazia responded by making her Instagram account private. However, she is not the first Bollywood personality to express disagreement with Dhurandhar's politics. Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap and actor Hrithik Roshan have also spoken out against the film's ideologies, although they praised its technical aspects. Dhurandhar, which collected over ₹1328 crore worldwide, features an ensemble cast and will have a sequel, Dhurandhar 2, released on March 19. The controversy surrounding Shazia's review has sparked a wider conversation about the responsibility of filmmakers in promoting certain ideologies and the impact of their work on society.
