Bollywood's classics are getting a second life through remixes, but the trend is reigniting debate within the industry. Music composers and filmmakers are weighing in on the issue, with some welcoming the trend and others expressing concerns over originality and the potential for over-saturation.

Music composer Anu Malik, whose songs feature in several films that have remixed old classics, says he has no objection to recreations, but wishes original creators were more closely involved in the process.

However, the trend has also led to legal disputes, with producer Vashu Bhagnani filing a lawsuit against the music label and director David Dhawan over the recreated versions of Chunnari Chunnari and Ishq Sona Hai.

Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta recently expressed his disagreement with the trend, warning that the remixes may become a marketing tool rather than serving the narrative.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh believes remixes work only when they serve the narrative rather than functioning as a marketing tool.
