Telugu megastar Chiranjeevi has made a resounding return to the box office with his latest release, Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu. The action-packed entertainer is on a roll, raking in massive collections worldwide. After a spectacular first week, the film is now hurtling towards the ₹300 crore mark. Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu's Sankranthi holiday period turned out to be a bonanza, with the film sustaining its momentum throughout the week. On its 7th day, the film earned ₹17.50 crore net in India, bringing its India earnings to ₹157.75 crore net ( ₹189 crore gross). While overseas collections have slowed down, the film has still managed to earn around $4.5 million, taking its worldwide gross to over ₹225 crore. According to the film's makers, the gross has already reached ₹292 crore, making it one of the best first weeks for a regional film. Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu has surpassed the year's other big Telugu release, The Raja Saab, starring Prabhas. Despite releasing three days later and having a lower opening, the Chiranjeevi film has caught up to it. Over the weekend, Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu earned ₹55 crore in India, compared to just ₹9 crore for The Raja Saab. Directed by Anil Ravipudi, Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu is a classic Chiranjeevi-style action entertainer, featuring Nayanthara and an extended cameo by Daggubati Venkatesh. The film released on Monday, January 12, ahead of the Sankranti holiday, and has been a massive hit ever since.
