Cinematographer George Richmond, known for his work on Deadpool & Wolverine, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, and Kingsman: The Golden Circle, has been rescued after a paragliding accident in Himachal Pradesh.
The Indian Air Force (IAF) launched a rescue operation on June 8, and Richmond has undergone surgery for his injuries. He is now 'stable' and recovering.
Richmond, 54, was paragliding in Himachal's Kullu district with a group of five on a long-distance cross-country flying expedition when he crashed into rough mountainous terrain.
He was airlifted to Kullu and later referred to the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh, where he underwent surgery.
Dr Vijay Goni, Prof and Head, Department of Orthopaedics at the institute, said Richmond injured his neck in multiple places after falling from a height.
The cinematographer is under observation for the next 48 hours but is 'stable and recovering', according to the doctor.
Richmond has been active in the film industry since 1990 and has worked on numerous action films, including the 2018 Tomb Raider reboot and the 2022 Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore.
