Bollywood A-lister Deepika Padukone is reportedly in talks to join Vicky Kaushal in Amar Kaushik's upcoming mythological drama, Mahavatar. The film, which tells the story of Lord Parashurama, has been searching for an actress who can bring depth and gravitas to her role opposite the legendary warrior. Sources close to the project suggest that Deepika is the top contender for the part, citing her ability to bring a strong character graph to the film. Mahavatar will focus on the story of Parashurama, known as the destroyer of evil on Earth, and the female lead will play a significant role in the narrative. Director Amar Kaushik has stated that the character must have equal footing in the story, ensuring a balanced and engaging plot. This potential casting decision comes as Vicky Kaushal is set to star in another film, Love & War, alongside Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Meanwhile, Vicky is enjoying fatherhood with his newborn son, born to his wife Katrina Kaif in November this year. The project's preparation has also seen the cast and crew adopt a plant-based diet, with Amar Kaushal and Vicky Kaushal reportedly quitting non-vegetarian food and alcohol before the shoot begins. Deepika, known for her versatility in films like Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit, will likely bring a new level of excitement to the project if she joins the cast.
