In a surprise move, Hollywood director James Cameron has expressed interest in collaborating with Indian filmmaker SS Rajamouli on his upcoming epic, Varanasi. The film, starring Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra, is set to release in 2027. Cameron, who was promoting his latest film, Avatar: Fire and Ash, virtually met with Rajamouli and discussed the possibility of working together. During their conversation, Cameron offered to shoot some key scenes for Varanasi, highlighting his enthusiasm for the project. 'I'd love to come to your set,' Cameron said, 'and watch you create your magic.' Rajamouli's Varanasi, co-written by his father Vijayendra Prasad, features a star-studded cast, including Prithviraj as the antagonist Kumbha. Cameron's offer to contribute to the film comes as a testament to the growing bond between international filmmakers and their Indian counterparts. Meanwhile, Cameron's Avatar: Fire and Ash has received mixed reviews from critics, with a 70% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The film, a sequel to the 2009 original and 2022's Avatar: The Way of Water, is set to release worldwide on December 19.
