Lucknow's cafes, hotels, and restaurants are kicking off the holiday season with festive cake-mixing events. These pre-Christmas celebrations are a time for bonding and community building, drawing in locals, influencers, and in-house guests alike. Behind the scenes of these events is a rich mix of ingredients, including dry fruits, spices, and even wine. "We use a blend of traditional spices and dry fruits, along with wine, to create a unique flavor profile," explains Arjun Thakur from Novotel Lucknow. The mixture is left to ferment for 20-25 days before being transformed into a delicious cake. These events have become a highlight of the city's social calendar, with prominent figures and influencers attending. "For us, it's not just about mixing ingredients – it's about bringing people together, regardless of their background or faith," says Nitin Singh, sales manager at the Taj Mahal hotel. In addition to the festive atmosphere, some hotels are using these events to give back to the community. Danbro by Mr Brown, for example, invited special children from the Drishti NGO to participate in their cake-mixing ceremony. "It's a wonderful way to promote compassion and understanding among our guests," says Tanushree Gupta, founder of the bakery. For chefs, these events are a chance to showcase their culinary skills and creativity. "It's a great opportunity to connect with our guests and showcase the festive flavors we have in store for Christmas," says Ranjan Thakur, executive chef at Fairfield by Marriott. As the city gets into the holiday spirit, these cake-mixing events are a must-attend for anyone looking to experience the best of Lucknow's festive season.
