The box office success of Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar, has been largely attributed to the exceptional casting by Mukesh Chhabra. In an exclusive conversation with Miss Malini, the renowned casting director expressed his ambition to bring home an Oscar for India's casting department. Chhabra believes that the often-overlooked field of casting deserves recognition and has been manifesting an Oscar win for the country. With the recent addition of the Best Casting category at the 2026 Oscars, Chhabra is optimistic about the possibility of an Indian casting team being honored. Mukesh Chhabra's impressive portfolio includes blockbuster films like Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Jawan, Dunki, and Rockstar. He is currently working on Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana and has been instrumental in shaping the cast of Dhurandhar, which features Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, and R. Madhavan, among others. The film has already broken box office records, grossing ₹634 crore worldwide and cementing its position as one of the highest-grossing Indian films of 2025. With the release of the second part of the film scheduled for March 19, 2026, Chhabra's vision of an Oscar win for Indian casting seems increasingly within reach.
