In a grand event in Mumbai, Netflix India unveiled its highly anticipated slate of titles for the coming year. The streaming giant's 2026 lineup boasts a diverse range of films and shows, including returning favorites like Maamla Legal Hai and The Great Indian Kapil Show, as well as new additions such as Operation Safed Sagar and a new film starring Madhuri Dixit. According to Monika Shergill, Vice President of Content for Netflix India, the 2026 slate marks a significant leap forward from the previous year's offerings. "We're excited to introduce new genres, formats, and storytelling styles that will take our viewers on a thrilling journey," she said in an exclusive interview with Hindustan Times. One of the standout titles is the courtroom drama Ikka, which reunites Sunny Deol and Akshaye Khanna on screen after almost three decades. The film's director, Siddharth P Malhotra, had an early draft that impressed Netflix, and the casting of the two veteran actors was a deliberate choice to bring a powerful courtroom drama to the streaming platform. In a surprise move, Netflix has acquired the rights to the captive reality show Lock Upp, created by Ektaa Kapoor and originally streamed on Amazon MX Player. The show's new avatar on Netflix promises to be a game-changer, with Monika hinting at fresh twists and surprises that will differentiate it from the original. The acquisition of Lock Upp marks a significant milestone for Netflix India, which is committed to bringing unique and exciting content to its viewers. With its ambitious slate for 2026, Netflix is poised to take the Indian streaming market by storm, offering something for everyone in the coming year.
