Bollywood and Telugu cinema fans are eagerly awaiting the release of Prabhas' latest horror-comedy, The Raja Saab. The film marks Prabhas' return to the family entertainer genre after years of starring in mass-action films. Despite the buzz surrounding the movie in the Telugu states, its pan-India appeal appears to be lacking. The advance booking numbers indicate a strong opening, particularly for the original Telugu version. According to Sacnilk, The Raja Saab has sold over 5 lakh tickets for its opening day in Telugu, with a gross of ₹15.31 crore in advance bookings. However, compared to Prabhas' previous releases, such as Kalki 2898 AD and Salaar, the numbers are significantly lower. Kalki 2898 AD sold 11 lakh tickets with a gross of close to ₹30 crore, while Salaar sold 17 lakh tickets with a gross of ₹39 crore. Despite the initial slow start, The Raja Saab is expected to perform well with the family audience, who tend to make spot bookings over the weekend. The film's success will largely depend on the initial reactions from the neutral audience, which will shape the word of mouth. With a predicted ₹70 crore net start in India, The Raja Saab is expected to be Prabhas' fourth-best opening post-pandemic. Directed by Maruthi, The Raja Saab is a fantasy horror film starring Prabhas alongside Sanjay Dutt, Malavika Mohanan, and other notable actors. The film releases on January 9 and is expected to attract a large audience, particularly in the Telugu states.
