Bengali actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee's sudden death at 43 has sent shockwaves through the Bengali film industry. His wife, Priyanka Sarkar, has now spoken about his death for the first time, saying she feels like she has lost her 'best friend'. The two were married in 2010 and had a son, Shohoj, before separating in 2017 but reconciling in 2023.
Priyanka, who is gearing up for the release of her upcoming show, Kuheli, on May 15, shared that Rahul was more than just a husband - he was a friend of over 21 years who influenced her thoughts on films and books. She revealed that he was one of the biggest critics of her work and his opinions mattered to her.
Rahul rose to fame with the 2008 blockbuster romantic film Chirodini Tumi Je Amar, where he starred opposite Priyanka. He was shooting for his show, Bhole Baba Paar Karega, in Odisha when the incident occurred. His co-star, Diganta Bagchi, claimed that Rahul got entangled in something underneath while swimming and was rushed to hospital, where he was declared dead.
