Bollywood actor R Madhavan is set to captivate audiences with his upcoming film, Dhurandhar: The Revenge. In a recent conversation, Madhavan revealed the reason behind his four-year break from acting, which began before his 2016 film, Saala Khadoos. He was unhappy with the work he was doing and felt like he was just 'dancing to others' tune.' Madhavan recalled the moment that sparked his decision to take a break. While filming a song in Switzerland, he noticed a Swiss farmer looking at him with disdain, sipping tea and wondering what they were doing. This incident made him realize that he was not utilizing his skills and talents in his movies. The actor credited his wife for noticing his unhappiness with work. She pointed out that he was going to work like he wanted to come back from it. This realization made sense to him, and he decided to take a break. During this time, he stopped doing ad films, grew a beard, and traveled around Chennai and other parts of India. He engaged with everyday people, including rickshaw drivers, to gain a deeper understanding of their concerns and the real costs of things that bothered them. Madhavan revealed that after his break, he realized that the directors he was working with were not as forward-thinking as him. He began searching for new collaborators and returned to the screen in 2016. He went on to deliver critically acclaimed performances in films like Vikram Vedha, Shaitaan, Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, Kesari Chapter 2, and Dhurandhar. Dhurandhar: The Revenge, directed by Aditya Dhar, is the sequel to the 2025 blockbuster Dhurandhar. The film features Madhavan reprising his role as Ajay Sanyal, Director of the IB, alongside Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, and Sanjay Dutt in key roles. The film is scheduled to release in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam on March 19, clashing with Yash's Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-ups.
