Shekhar Kapur Praises 'Dhurandhar' After Catching Up on Netflix, Reveals He Missed Theatrical Release Due to Gulf Ban

Noted filmmaker Shekhar Kapur has shared his thoughts on the recently released Netflix film 'Dhurandhar', directed by Aditya Dhar and starring Ranveer Singh. In a social media post, Kapur praised the film's storytelling and performances, saying that director Aditya Dhar deserves the praise he's receiving. The filmmaker also expressed his eagerness to watch the sequel, 'Dhurandhar 2', which is set to release in theaters on March 19. Kapur's review comes after he revealed that he missed watching 'Dhurandhar' in theaters due to the Gulf ban, which prevented the film from being released in six countries, including Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE. When asked about his decision to watch the film on Netflix instead, Kapur clarified that it didn't feel censored, despite some swear words being removed. He added that he wishes he had seen the film in theaters, but it was not available in his location in Dubai. 'Dhurandhar' tells the story of an Indian spy sent to Pakistan's Lyari to infiltrate a Baloch gang, starring Ranveer Singh as the lead character, Hamza Ali Mazari, alias Jaskirat Singh Rangi. The film has collected over ₹1328 crore worldwide and has received praise from critics and audiences alike. The sequel, 'Dhurandhar 2', is expected to continue the story of the Indian spy and is set to release in theaters on March 19.
