Sivakarthikeyan's highly anticipated film Parasakthi has finally hit the theaters. The historical drama, directed by Sudha Kongara and produced by Aakash Bhaskaran of Dawn Pictures, has been certified by the CBFC after making 25 cuts and modifications. The film, starring Sivakarthikeyan, Sreeleela, Ravi Mohan, and Atharvaa, has opened to a decent collection of ₹11.50 crore net in India on its first day, with an occupancy of 62.79% in Tamil. While Parasakthi's opening numbers are respectable, they still fall short of Sivakarthikeyan's previous films, Amaran and Madharaasi. Amaran collected ₹24.7 crore on its opening day in 2024, while Madharaasi brought in ₹13.65 crore on a Friday in 2025. The film also failed to surpass the openings of Vijay's 2024 film The GOAT, which collected ₹52 crore, and Kamal Haasan's 2025 film The Thug Life, which had an opening of ₹15.5 crore. Parasakthi's chances of a successful run in theaters have been boosted by the postponement of Vijay's Jana Nayagan due to certification issues. However, it remains to be seen if this advantage will translate into long-term success for the film. Set in 1960s Madras, Parasakthi tells the story of two brothers participating in an anti-Hindi imposition agitation in Tamil Nadu. The film has received mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike.
