Actor Sunny Deol is set to reprise his role in the upcoming film 'Border 2', a sequel to the 1997 blockbuster 'Border'. The new movie, directed by Anurag Singh, promises to capture the essence of the original while introducing new elements. Deol, who made his first public appearance since his father Dharmendra's passing, expressed his excitement to play a soldier once again. He credited the uniform with giving him the strength to portray the character, stating that it's the uniform that makes actors feel like soldiers. The film's makers launched the teaser on Vijay Diwas, a day celebrating the nation's brave hearts who fought in the 1971 India-Pakistan war. Deol also used the occasion to dispel the notion that today's youth lack patriotism, saying that they are just as passionate about their country as previous generations. 'Border 2', which features a star-studded cast including Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty, is set to release on January 23, 2026. The film's producers, Bhushan Kumar and Nidhi Dutta, have worked tirelessly to ensure that the sequel lives up to the legacy of the original. Kumar praised the cast and crew, saying that they have infused the film with newness while retaining its essence. Nidhi Dutta, who is making her directorial debut, expressed her hope that the film will make the audience proud and live up to the legacy of her father, JP Dutta. The makers are also planning to launch a recreated version of the iconic song 'Sandese Aate Hai' on January 2, next year. The song will be performed by multiple singers and will be launched in collaboration with the armed forces.
