Actress Sydney Sweeney is set to return as the enigmatic Millie Calloway in The Housemaid 2, a sequel to the surprise box office hit The Housemaid. Director Paul Feig will once again helm the film, which is based on Freida McFadden's popular novel The Housemaid's Secret. The sequel has been greenlit following the success of the first film, which earned $75.7 million domestically and $133 million worldwide. According to Deadline, production on The Housemaid 2 is expected to begin later this year. Sydney Sweeney will reprise her role as Millie, while Michele Morrone will once again play Enzo, the Winchesters' groundskeeper. Paul Feig has expressed his excitement about continuing the story, saying, 'It's been thrilling to see audiences around the world fall in love with The Housemaid.' The first film's success was fueled by strong word-of-mouth and online chatter, with audiences eager to know what happens next. The Housemaid 2 is expected to deliver a similarly thrilling experience, with Adam Fogelson, chair of Lionsgate's Motion Picture Group, saying, 'We believed in these stories from the very beginning, and we are beyond excited to bring the next chapter of Millie's story to life on-screen.' While Amanda Seyfried's Nina Winchester does not feature in the second novel, her involvement in the sequel has not been ruled out. In fact, during an appearance at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, Amanda hinted at the sequel's certainty, saying, 'No one's said anything about number two, but I guarantee there will be number two.'
