Sales of Tamagotchi merchandise have surged, with Bandai reporting a sevenfold increase in five years. The toy's popularity has been fueled by its nostalgic appeal, with many Gen Z fans and parents discovering the joy of caring for a virtual pet. The Tamagotchi's impact extends beyond its retro charm. It has become a healthy alternative to social media, encouraging users to engage with the physical world. As Brazilian tourist Rafaela Miranda Freire, 15, noted, "It's good. You just get off the phone and appreciate the small things in life.
