Chiraiya actor Siddharth Shaw sat down for an exclusive chat with HT City in Khan Market, where he opened up about his childhood dreams of becoming an actor and what it feels like to finally shine onscreen.
When asked about the challenges of being an outsider in Bollywood, Siddharth shared that every film has its own journey and every actor has their own destiny. He emphasized that being an outsider doesn't decide if you'll get cast for a role, and that the audience's acceptance is what truly matters.
Siddharth explained that coming from a film family can give you leverage, but ultimately, if you're not good, the audience won't accept you. He looks at being an outsider as a 'blessing' because the audience doesn't have a point of comparison to his parents.
The actor also shared that audiences genuinely want outsiders to succeed, despite the strong nepo-bias in the industry today. He compared having a Plan B to going to war, saying that if you're thinking about running away from the battlefield, you've already lost the battle.
Siddharth further explained that having a Plan B is being escapist, and that he doesn't have one. He believes that if he deviates his energy, he won't be able to give acting his full focus.
In Chiraiya, Siddharth portrayed the role of Arun Kumar, the negative lead, alongside Divya Dutta, Prasanna Bisht, and Sanjay Mishra. The series exposes the dark reality of non-consensual intimacy within marriage.
