Actor Sunil Lahri, known for playing Lakshman in Ramanand Sagar's iconic Ramayana, hopes Nitesh Tiwari's upcoming film adaptation turns out to be 'landmark', while cautioning against 'blunders'.
The film, starring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Yash as Ravana, and Sai Pallavi as Sita, has sparked debate with some praising the scale while many criticised the special effects.
Sunil Lahri expressed his take on the teaser, stating that while he likes and dislikes certain things, he wishes the makers will make a landmark film, present their culture properly, and evoke the right emotions among the world audience.
He praised Ranbir's acting skills but felt that the innocence to play Lord Rama seems to be missing in him. Sunil Lahri also warned the makers to complement visuals with emotions, hoping they don't make 'blunders'.
Ramayana is a two-part live-action saga set 5,000 years ago, rooted in one of Indian mythology's most enduring epics. The film is set to release ahead of Diwali 2026.
