Actor Vijay, the chief of TVK, was questioned by the CBI for six hours on Monday in connection with the Karur stampede case. The incident, which occurred on September 27, 2025, left 41 people dead and over 60 injured in Tamil Nadu's Karur. A video shared online shows Vijay exiting his car and greeting fans and well-wishers after the questioning. He was seen smiling and waving briefly before returning to his car. This was Vijay's second round of questioning by the CBI, with the first taking place on January 12. He had initially sought a different date due to the Pongal celebrations. During the questioning, Vijay was asked several questions related to the decision-making process behind the rally, his knowledge of the chaos, and the mismanagement of the crowd. The CBI is investigating the incident and has gathered evidence from various officials involved. The agency took over the case from a Special Investigation Team (SIT) following a Supreme Court order. The court had asked the CBI to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation, emphasizing the need to restore public trust in the criminal justice system. The CBI is set to analyze the statements of Vijay, senior officials of his party, and other officials involved in the incident before deciding on attributing roles in the chargesheet. The investigation is ongoing, and the agency will continue to gather evidence to determine the responsibilities of those involved in the Karur stampede case.
