Tamil superstar Vijay's highly anticipated film, Jana Nayagan, has defied release uncertainty with over 1 million people expressing interest on BookMyShow (BMS) despite its certification woes. The film's producers, KVN Productions, are currently locked in a court battle with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) after a Madras High Court decision stayed a single-judge order to grant a censor certificate. The case, which is pending in court, has been put on hold until January 20, when the producers will seek relief. Meanwhile, Jana Nayagan's page on BMS has garnered a significant following, with over 1 million people clicking the 'I'm interested' button. This is not the first time Vijay's films have generated such interest on BMS. His 2023 film, Leo, also crossed 1.1 million interests on the platform. However, the uncertainty surrounding Jana Nayagan's release is a stark contrast to the excitement surrounding its release, which was initially scheduled for January 9. Vijay, who has been in the news for his political ambitions, is also facing a CBI probe in connection with the Karur stampede case. The actor-politician was questioned by the agency's Anti-Corruption unit for over 6 hours on January 12 and again on Monday, January 15. The CBI has taken over the case from a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and is gathering evidence related to the September 27, 2025, stampede that claimed 41 lives and left over 60 injured in Tamil Nadu's Karur.
