At least 30 Indian nationals were arrested by US Border Patrol agents for living in the country illegally and are set to be deported. The arrests were made under 'Operation Checkmate', a US Customs operation that targets commercial motor vehicle operators living illegally in the US.

The 52 arrests were made in Arizona's Yuma Sector from May 11-15, with 36 of the individuals driving semi-trucks. Of these, 30 were Indians, and three did not possess any driver's license.

The operation aims to safeguard communities and roads from unlawfully present drivers who pose significant risks to public safety. The arrests come months after two Indian truck drivers were involved in fatal crashes in the US, sparking demands for stricter rules for non-citizens to obtain commercial drivers licenses.

US President Donald Trump had announced the 'Dalilah Law' to halt the issuance of commercial driver licenses to "illegal aliens" in response to such incidents.
