Thousands of protesters have gathered in Albania's capital, Tirana, to oppose a proposed luxury tourism project backed by Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner.
The project, which includes high-end hotels and villas, aims to transform a portion of Albania's pristine southern coast into a multibillion-dollar luxury tourist destination.
Protesters, who have dubbed the movement the 'Flamingo Revolution,' claim the government is prioritizing foreign investment over the undeveloped coastline and its protected wildlife habitats.
The area is home to important wildlife habitats, including Europe's most pristine river deltas, flamingos, and turtles.
Protesters are calling for the imprisonment of Prime Minister Edi Rama and opposition leader Sali Berisha, accusing them of running the country for the wealthy few rather than the majority.
