Amazon.com is launching a new business called Amazon Supply Chain Services, a centralized platform for companies to hire the e-commerce giant for logistics services.

The move positions Amazon as a third-party logistics provider, competing with giants like DSV, DHL Group, and Kuehne + Nagel International.

Amazon's sprawling global supply chain, built over two decades, includes warehouses, planes, trucks, and delivery vehicles, with last-mile delivery service becoming the nation's largest parcel carrier by volume.

The company has sold fulfillment services to companies listing goods on its retail marketplace for 20 years, with third-party seller services accounting for 24% of its total revenue last year.

Amazon Supply Chain Services will offer services such as fulfillment, ocean and air shipping, and truck transportation, and can fulfill orders placed through platforms that compete with Amazon's own marketplace.

Companies like Procter & Gamble, 3M, Lands' End, American Eagle, and Aerie are already using Amazon's supply chain services.
