An Amtrak maintenance train caught fire near Penn Station in New York, injuring five people and disrupting rail services for thousands of commuters.
The two-alarm fire broke out at 1:30 a.m. on track 11 within the Hudson River Tunnels, prompting a response from 46 units and 141 personnel.
Two victims were taken to Bellevue Hospital with serious injuries, while the other three declined treatment.
Damage to overhead wiring led to the suspension of New Jersey Transit and Long Island Railroad services at Penn Station.
Passengers are being redirected to alternative routes, including private buses and the PATH train.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is currently underway.
