An expert has revealed that a skeleton was excavated at the location where ancient human remains were discovered near Catalina Foothills, Arizona, unrelated to Nancy Guthrie's case.
The remains, estimated to be between several hundred and 1,000 years old, were found to be of Native American origin, according to anthropologist James T. Watson.
The discovery was made in the Sonoran Desert, a challenging landscape where similar findings are common due to the area's vast space and recent land developments.
The remains have been handed over to the Tohono O'odham Nation, a Native American tribe, and no further research or testing is anticipated.
The inquiry into Nancy Guthrie's disappearance remains active, with a total reward exceeding $1.2 million available.
