Residents in West Covina, California, reported smelling smoke and fearing a fire on June 19, but authorities confirmed that the smoke originated from a re-erupted warehouse fire in Boyle Heights. The Los Angeles Fire Department stated that changing weather conditions and ongoing suppression activities made the smoke more visible from surrounding communities, but there is no immediate threat to the public.

Firefighters continue to attack the fire on the roof and in the building from the exterior, and a smoke advisory remains in place for local residents. The fire had initially broken out at a cold storage warehouse in Boyle Heights on June 17, and re-erupted due to shifting winds.

Residents in nearby cities, including Ontario, La Verne, and Baldwin Park, also reported smelling the fire and expressed concerns on social media. The Los Angeles Fire Department has assured the public that there is no immediate threat, but recommended staying indoors due to the smoke advisory.
