The Mission Fire near Fallbrook, California, has burned approximately 20 acres as of Saturday evening, with fire crews containing about 65% of the blaze. The wildfire was first reported along northbound Interstate 15 near Pala Mesa in San Diego County.
Forward progress has stopped on all fires within the incident, but responders remain on scene to mop up and strengthen control lines. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
Residents are being urged to stay clear of the area to allow firefighting aircraft to safely operate. Firefighters are at the scene with cooperators of multiple small fires near I-15 and Highway 76.
Eastbound State Route 76 is closed between S Mission Road and Old Highway 395 due to a brush fire, according to Caltrans District 11.
