Canadian law enforcement, along with the FBI, has arrested 17 Indian-origin youth in connection with extortion-related violence. The operation, led by the Peel Regional Police, targeted an international criminal network known as For Brothers, which used intimidation, threats, and escalating violence to extort local businesses.
The arrests were made in Brampton, Mississauga, Caledon, and British Columbia, with links to California. Those arrested face 106 criminal charges and were linked to 24 incidents, including 16 violent incidents, including arson and multiple shootings.
Twelve of those arrested were residents of Brampton, while two were from Surrey in British Columbia. The operation also seized six firearms, illicit drugs, and multiple cell phones. The investigation remains ongoing, and further arrests are anticipated.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney commented on the arrests, saying, “We’re partnering with law enforcement and following the money — tracing criminal networks and holding their members to account.”
