A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Frontier Airlines plane on the runway of Denver International Airport during takeoff, sparking an engine fire and passenger evacuation.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:19 p.m. on Friday, with the plane traveling from Denver to Los Angeles International Airport.

According to airport officials, the unidentified pedestrian had breached a perimeter fence and was struck two minutes after entering the airport premises.

The plane's pilot reported striking a pedestrian and informed air traffic control of an engine fire, prompting an evacuation on the runway.

Twelve people reported minor injuries, with five being shifted to nearby hospitals. The probe into the matter is currently underway.
