A 14-step spiral segment of the Eiffel Tower's original staircase sold for over €450,000 at auction in Paris.
The 9-foot tall, 1.4-ton section, dating back to 1889, was sold at Artcurial Paris auction house.
The buyer, in the auction room, paid more than three times the estimated value of €120,000 to €150,000.
This sale comes after the Paris 2024 Olympics boosted the tower's appeal among collectors, said Sabrina Dolla, Art Deco design director at Artcurial Paris.
