Florida Wildfire: Lochloosa West Blaze Spreads to 100 Acres, Closes County Road 325

The Lochloosa West Fire in southeastern Alachua County, Florida, has grown to more than 100 acres and remains 0% contained as of the latest update.

The blaze broke out on Monday afternoon near the Lochloosa and Hawthorne areas, south of Gainesville, Florida.

Fire officials said crews will conduct more detailed mapping on Tuesday to determine a more accurate acreage and assess containment progress.

Multiple agencies, including the Florida Forest Service and Alachua County Fire Rescue, responded to the fire throughout the day.

Aerial resources, including three helicopters and one air attack aircraft, are assisting suppression efforts, while dozers continue to cut containment lines.

No structures are currently under immediate threat, but residents within a three-mile radius have been advised of the situation via a reverse 911 notification.
