Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney believes the G7 Leaders' Summit in France could be the stage where the 'strands' of a new world order are woven together.

Carney pointed to the presence of outreach partners, including India, Brazil, Gulf states, and Kenya, who will make up more than half of the meeting.

He is set to meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the summit, their fourth bilateral meeting in a year.

Carney emphasized the importance of middle powers combining to create a 'third path with impact' in a world of great power rivalry.

He cited the Australia-Canada-India Technology and Innovation Partnership as an example of building coalitions focused on specific issues.
