A hazardous chemical tank in Garden Grove, California, remains unstable, prompting authorities to reassess the danger level and continue evacuations across Orange County.

Fire official Craig Covey admitted that firefighters 'put people in harm's way' after re-entering the danger zone to neutralize the volatile tank.

The tank, containing 15,000 gallons of MMA, has seen its internal temperature rise to 90 degrees Fahrenheit and is continuing to climb at a rate of one degree per hour.

Evacuation orders remain in place for areas north of Garden Grove Boulevard, east of Springdale Avenue, west of Dale Street, and south of Orangewood Avenue, with four shelters opened in nearby cities.
