Podcaster Joe Rogan has criticized the backlash against late-night host Jimmy Kimmel for a joke he made about Melania Trump.

The joke was made during a mock roast on Kimmel's show, where he humorously remarked that the First Lady had the 'glow' of an 'expectant widow.'

Rogan argued that nobody cared about the joke until after a gunman attempted to target President Donald Trump and other officials at the White House Correspondents Association (WHCA) dinner.

Kimmel has since defended himself, explaining that the joke was a 'very light' reference to the age difference between the Trumps.

He also pointed out that President Trump has made jokes about his own old age, and that if 'low ratings' warrant his firing, then Trump should also be without a job.

The controversy follows a previous incident where Kimmel was removed from the air and indefinitely suspended due to remarks he made after the assassination of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk.
